Connecticut State Police are investigating a dead pedestrian who was found on the Wilbur Cross Parkway.

According to troopers, the pedestrian was found dead by state Department of Transportation workers on the highway shortly after 8 a.m. on Friday, October 30 between Exits 58 and 59 near the Woodbridge/New Haven line. The identity of the person has not been released and police are still trying to ascertain how the pedestrian died, although it appears that a car was involved.

The highway was shut down shortly after 9 a.m. and did not reopen for nearly seven hours with traffic being diverted off the highway near Exit 59, causing traffic to be backed up for more than seven miles all the way to Exit 62 in Hamden during the middle of the rush hour in the morning.
